In a joint statement, Steve McClellan, Vice President of Evansville, IN-based Professional Transportation, Inc. (PTI), and Bobby Vincent, Director of Safety, have announced that the National Safety Council has awarded to PTI its “Significant Improvement Award” for 2010.
In his comments, Vincent stated that “while this Occupational Award is earned by meeting several different National Safety Council safety benchmarks, in general terms a company must demonstrate at least a 20% reduction in injuries or illnesses that involve days away from work in the January – December calendar year. This is PTI’s first such national award, and we are very pleased to be one of only 27 companies across the country to receive this honor.”
According to Mr. McClellan,”I thank the National Safety Council for this award that is especially gratifying because it acknowledges the safety training and safety initiatives Bobby Vincent and his team of fourteen Field Safety Officers and four Regional Safety Coordinators have developed and implemented, with the assistance of the Field Operations team, that have lead to our documentable safety improvements. Even more satisfying is the fact these reductions occurred during a year realizing over 20% growth. All our Safety Officers and Coordinators are National Safety Council certified instructors trained in a variety of safety competencies including fleet safety, substance abuse detection, and fleet safety auditing. Their training and total commitment to making safety a first priority is what has allowed PTI to become a safety leader in the railroad crew transportation industry.”
Founded in 1980, PTI provides crew transportation services to employees of some of the nation’s largest railroads. As one of the largest such providers in the country, with operations in 26 states, PTI drivers log over 100 million miles annually, and through its many training, technology, and customer service initiatives, the company has a hard-earned reputation for providing safe, on-time crew transportation services for its many railroad customers.
